It sure does. Plus, childcare is so expensive. Now, he can’t imagine having children right now, of course, but if he does, having parents handy will be very valuable. If he never uses these resources that’s great. When we downsize as we get older someone else will be happy to have the room.

Thank you! He’s only 18 so, of course, he kind of rolls his eyes about it, I know it’s tough out there though. Not everyone gets the same bootstraps.

That’s awful.
I just can’t imagine being responsible for all repairs, insurance ect. and being just a renter.
My husband and I are already planning for our house to be inter generational for our son. He’s smart and motivated but I’d rather plan for it and not need it than be surprised later.

Worse than life long renter. At least when you’re renting you have a landlord responsible for repairs. Imagine being a renter also responsible for repairs.

How crazy is it that my parents were able to build a house in their early 20’s without either of them having a college degree or wealthy family? Now you need a 50 year mortgage and you’re going to be 40 yo as a first time buyer. Not a lot of 90 year olds out there still making payments, I bet.
