I’m think I’ve become rather wary of social media platforms that are based in the US, and are subject to US laws and values: You just never know when they’ll change their mission, their rules, or w/e, to pander to the worst kind of people in power. Why is accountability to uphold Mission so hard?

Meta finally reveals how it is blocking news in Canada, after fighting to keep it private:
"[Meta] blocks content from domains, pages, or accounts identified as news outlets, using a combination of account activity, and industry information from public, licensed, and government sources."

We laugh now, but AI will be replacing many of us. Frontline Social Work may become one of the most sustainable jobs for a while in lieu of UBI: assisting the Replaced Class (workers who can't pivot into new fields). A safety net for people caught in the collateral damage of AI's disruptive wake.

Just think: through enforced progressive taxation, and maximum income/wealth caps, the top 100 of the Hoarding Class could fund a Basic/Guaranteed Income scheme *and* Universal Comprehensive Healthcare, for everybody in the world... and they'd still have money left over for themselves.
