This is why I calling for an immediate pause on new and expanding salmon farms to protect these threatened species from disease, parasites, and habitat damage caused by intensive aquaculture.

🌿 Reforesting Scotland isn’t just a vision🌲

This weekend at the Reforesting Scotland Gathering, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with people deeply committed to restoring our forests - from community woodland groups to those managing productive, sustainable forests.

On Skye and across the Highlands, GP recruitment and retention are under real pressure. I asked the Minister to commit to a whole-systems approach that supports our rural workforce, improves training and career progression, and secures sustainable primary care for the future. #ScottishGreens

🚆 The Highlands deserves a rail network fit for the 21st century.

It’s time to stop the delays and deliver the railway the Highlands needs

🚆 Get the Highlands on Track 🚆
The Highlands has waited long enough. Our only rail link to the Central Belt is still mostly single-track, diesel-powered, and stuck in the past. Meanwhile, the Government is ready to pour billions into roads while breaking its promises on rail.

Thank you to everyone who came, shared their stories, and kept the pressure on for change. Let’s keep the conversations going - in our communities, in Parliament, and in the everyday choices we make.

It was inspiring to join over 250 people at the Mass Climate Lobby in Edinburgh and to meet so many passionate constituents🌍💚 Together, we spoke about our shared hopes for a fairer, healthier, safer future - where Scotland takes real responsibility for climate action and moves beyond fossil fuels
ariane-burgess.bsky.social
Since the Scottish Greens pushed the government to scrap peak fares, more people have been choosing the train to get to work, see friends, and travel across Scotland. Fairer fares mean fairer choices — and every journey by train instead of car helps cut congestion and pollution. 🌍💚 #GreenerTravel

🚆✨ One month of no peak rail fares - and what a difference it’s making.

It’s been just one month, but already we’re seeing how small changes can make a big difference for people, pockets, and the planet.

Damp and mould should never be a fact of life in Scotland. With action, enforcement and innovation, we can end it.

ariane-burgess.bsky.social
I pushed for changes in the Housing Bill to make sure landlords act, and I’m glad the government listened. But rules alone aren’t enough - we need real solutions.
One solution is solar thermal: panels using the sun to heat water for free, giving households warmth, reducing damp and cutting bills
ariane-burgess.bsky.social
A third of people in Scotland are struggling to pay their heating bills, forcing families to live in cold, damp homes. That leads to mould, poor health, and misery - especially for children and older people.
ariane-burgess.bsky.social
The Scottish Greens believe public money should be invested in tackling the climate crisis, supporting communities, and strengthening public services.

Instead, Labour want to waste hundreds of millions on intrusive digital ID cards - a costly scheme Scotland did not vote for. #ScottishGreens

Marine litter continues to be an onslaught on our seas and shores.

The Scottish Greens are committed to tackling this - by holding manufacturers and fishers accountable and by recognising the tireless efforts of people across our communities who clean our beaches every day.
