I need someone to explain to me why in Europe there are "master programs" that are different from "postgraduate degree programs" but somehow its the PhD students that are called "pre-doctoral students" while some postdoc jobs are labeled as "PhD positions."

Choose the citation style that gives you more space.

Unless the ERC imposed specific rules this year, consider using a style where in-text citations are superscript numbers (e.g. APA bracket in Zotero). Why waste precious space on in-text citations? It's not an article... /end

4/ Intellectually exciting > intellectually dense.

This isn’t a peer-review article. They need to understand well enough to be able to articulate your ideas on your behalf to the rest of the panel. Help them help you by appealing to the tired nerd side. Human-friendly writing goes a long way.

Tables, charts, bold, italics, underline, COLORS—use them! Aesthetics is a powerful communication tool. Use the page in whatever way that best serves your project (but have internal consistency).

2/ The budget isn't an afterthought.

You’ll eventually move money around. But your budget defines team, scope, timeline, and your mobility options. You should have a general understanding of it and not blindly leave it to the HI. Be (politely) annoying now—or you’ll pay for it later. Literally.

1/ Say less. Repeat more.

It’s actually about saying less—but very well. Find 1-3 clear key messages that tie the project together and repeat these again & again (& again). If someone skips two paragraphs, they should still grasp the core of the project. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat!

I've had enough with the "Holy Trinity" of hw dol theory.

It doesn't make sense that the only way to innovate is to over & over & over again test the SAME 3 theories and see where they don't work as a way to say something new.
