This is how Anakin's passionate hatred of sand was written.
Writers: If you're ever stuck on what to write, just pick an object and describe it intricately from a fictional character's perspective. Have them love or hate something about it. The more ordinary the object, the better!

Congrats! You now have a character.

Crying over a dialogue exchange you've jotted down quickly because you haven't actually gotten to writing that part of the story yet is a milestone.

Avengard: The Fall of Senvia.

It's a weekly serial on Royal Road - not fancy published, just a fun story that I have big plans for!
Bluesky seems to be kicking off. Quote with one thing you've written everyone should read

I'm in the middle of writing one just like this! He's a shitty person, a brat, ridiculously good at basically everything, and abuses an entire culture just to make a bit of money and not have to go off and fight in the war that would probably kill him.
The most realistic villains to write are just selfish jerks.

I know critics want depth and uncomfortable relatability, but "dude just wants wealth and power, and is willing to step on others to get it" might be the most relevant to reality villains in existence.

Something a colleague of mine said today: It's never a waste of time to boost a writer's ego.

Build confidence, and the skill will come.

I'm not one for social media, but this place seems great. I can't sense an underlying inauthenticity, at least from what I've seen so far. It's not all "MONEY MONEY SEX BUSINESS MONEY MONEY SEX," it's actually... like, human beings.
I don't know bro, I just feel better posting here. Probably going to be here most of the time now. It just feels stress-free, even though it shouldn't feel stressful since it's posting, but it's way more chill, and sharing stuff about my book here has been working out way better too

The only downside to bookstores is that there are never quite enough of them.

The only other downside to bookstores is that they're never quite old and used enough. The shelves are wide, the space is open, there's so much light. Give me a goblin hole and I shall find my peace.

Okay, I'm sorry, but look at this cover art I had commissioned. AI CANNOT do this. Folks, if you want something done right, get a human to do it.

Dear authors and editors:

Please keep accented writing. Personal style is so, so important. Intentionally playing with conventions of grammar is what makes some of the most powerful prose, and it's a baseline requirement for poetry. Let your writing breathe!

Yes, hi, hello. I am an unscented author. Nice to meet you.
I just sent a text about a submission opportunity, and the spellchecker changed "agented and unagented authors" to "scented and unscented authors."

Authors, what's your plot concept process like? Here's mine:

"ooo this is a cool line, let's make this the first one. oh but then this here is logical. and wait, now this one, because of course, it just FLOWS. aaaand now the characters are in control and I'm just along for the ride. again."
Authors, what's your plot concept process like? Here's mine:

Authors, what's your plot concept process like? Here's mine:
- walking reading listening to music watching movies browsing online an idea COMES TO ME bolt of lightning, images, weird, crazy
- play with it, toy with it, turn it inside out, jot it down
- keep playing w it. Combine w other ideas/images
