Apropos of that, it really irks me when people use AI to generate graphs or diagrams.
For one, it's still usually shit at generating text.
And also... Fuck, man, would it really be *that* hard to make a chart in Excalidraw or a vector editor?

"I passed the text through ChatGPT to make it coherent."
"I use Claude to generate code."
Okay but... What are *you* then? A meat puppet that connects ChatGPT with LinkedIn?

But if you use it for tools you work with frequently, then you're *not progressing.* You're not studying the tool, you're not exercising your brain and memory. You're not getting better at the tool. You're just putting prompts into a machine.

You could say, of course, that this is an "artistic"/"artisan" way of writing code. Obsolete, like how photographs made portrait painters (mostly) obsolete.
And — okay, fine, maybe. If you don't care about the craft (or the oceans, or the theft), if you do a one-off — maybe.

They wrote that they were saving time (on writing code) from 1-3 weeks to 12 hours. And I guess such gains would justify using those tools (if you ignore all the ethical stuff).
I personally would much rather poke around StackOverflow or docs.

I think there was a joke that went something like this.
A mafia goon calls his boss. "Boss, your dog got shot!"
"Darn Bill, why are you doing this so roughly? Tell it gentler. Something like, your dog went to live on a farm."
"Okay boss. Well, your wife... She went to live on a farm."

5. People start cancelling ChatGPT subscription because the new model doesn't justify the price. MS buys OpenAI, merges it into Copilot.
6. For a bit, the market looks healthier as people flock from ChatGPT to competitors.
7. This repeats 3 or 4 times with big players.
arina-artemis.bsky.social
1. OpenAI declares that they're on the threshold of a new super-improved model
2. They receive massive investment from MS, NVidia, etc
3. They (and probably other players) jack up the prices (from $20/$200 a month to $100/$600)
4. The new model just... doesn't happen. Or it's very mid.

HOW WILL THE AI BUBBLE COLLAPSE:

I think it'll be OpenAI running out of money to a sufficient degree that everyone whose accounts are held up by OpenAI equity can no longer keep it propped up and have to admit their losses. That's when it cascades.

what's your prediction?

Is it me or are Web3/crypto shills becoming more active? Are they hoping for a comeback in a post-AI world I wonder?
