The angle is always, “Well, duh, men are trash, the few good ones are taken, the rest are playing the field, or uggos, or …” Fine! Does that explain _all_ the lonely hearts? I’d like to see some self-examination, ideally by a single woman, of her/their choices since online dating became the norm.

I doubt you have much expertise to lean on, unless there are many single women in your circle of friends online and/or IRL whom you don’t talk about, but there’s a real story (yet) to be written about why a hefty chunk of them are still single after a decade-plus of online dating.

Subtlety is not the show’s strong suit (see: most of the words out of Emma Thompson’s mouth), so I suspect they were going for a visual gag about the government trying to keep up appearances and failing badly. Still not cool!
