Just checking The Charts and as of yesterday the sun set at the earliest time this winter. The nights are starting later.

The sun will still be rising later for a little bit yet, which is why the daylight hours continue to get shorter for a bit.

Zach was fascinated with my office light changing colour yesterday. Absolutely blew his mind when I changed the living room light to three different colours.

What a blessed life the dogs live. Big walk this morning starting while it was still dark. Now Luna is asleep in my office and Bonnie is asleep on our bed while I'm working.

Went to the Liverpool Christmas Market this evening. It wasn't bad, but not my cup of tea. Zach seemed to have a nice time eating a pancake.

We went to this light thing at Chester Zoo tonight. It was for Zach's birthday, but involved my parents meeting Heather's for the first time.

Zach's Nan, Heather's stepmum, made him this advent calendar. It's so impressive, especially since she only started sewing this year.

Some snow today. Took my microspikes. There was genuine opportunity to use them, but I didn't bother.

Studying the map for tomorrow and can't decide whether to stick to my route or extend it by a huge amount to get three more that I've missed off twice from another route. It would be quite ambitious to do it with the daylight hours at the moment. Original in red, addition in blue.

Now Zach is one, we've finally been able to complete the monthly pictures.

Started the day very early with his new busy board. Then a climb on his new climbing frame. We all walked the dogs together and then the humans went to a giant soft play.

Massive blister on the palm of my hand from the screwdriver, but have successfully assembled Zach's little climbing frame thing ready for his birthday 🙏

Went to the Lake District today as planned. Woke up late, went the wrong way after the first hill adding an hour long diversion across difficult terrain.

Managed to do what we planned and it was ultimately a boss day 🙏

Absolute nightmare. The venue was unavailable because it was hosting a 5k, 10k and a half marathon 💀

Fortunately it started later than parkrun at 9:30 so we got round and out to the fields before it started.

Loved my little day with Zach. Let him crawl around in some leaves under a huge tree at the park and he was made up. We also had a little picnic, but that was not the highlight for him.

We found the ball. Cut my hand, nearly fell into the river, struggled for a while to climb back up the river bank. ECSTATIC!

We went to the beach this morning. Rainy at first, but then quite pleasant.
