Bilquis Evelyn’s and Mat Lopes’s illustrative work in Helen of Wyndhorn is stunningly beautiful and an embarrassment of richness of detail. If you’re a fan of vintage illustration, it’s incredible stuff.

Manic Pixie Dream Girl, but make her a Lovecraftian horror! I had no expectations when I checked this out from the library, but it’s great! And the artwork is exquisite.

I like John Scalzi best when he’s at his bantery Heinleiniest! And this delivers!

An orphaned young woman kills the king she holds responsible for her parents’ deaths and is soon apprehended by a famous bounty hunter to be returned to the capital to be executed. The author’s turn of phrase is wonderful, the story just gallops along from harrowing moment to harrowing moment.1/

I don’t generally read YA, but this was apocalyptically wonderful! 32/10. Would induce amnesia for the pleasure of reading again. Once Upon a Time at the End of the World by Jason Aaron, Alexandre Tefenkgi, Lee Loughridge, Nick Dragotta, and Rico Renzi.

If perchance you have been a fan of John Constantine and similar works, this is brilliant. The art by Charlie Adlai’s reminds me greatly of David Lloyd’s work on V For Vendetta.

Having finally watched Thunderbolts, I think this was the most spot-on promo poster. 8/10!

This was a demented and consistently clever movie! Samara Weaving is always great for subverting expectations and Ray Nicholson is a great choice for an insane asylum escapee. You can really see his father shining through. And Alba Baptiste and Eric Dane were… chef’s kiss in casting. 8/10

Besides being a great show that SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN CANCELED AFTER ONLY ONE SEASON, if you ever played with Hot Wheels as a kid, my brethren and sistren, you owe it to yourself to watch the opening credits.

This is the most EPIC epic I’ve read in ages! Undead King Arthur must be stopped! Incredible artwork and endlessly clever storytelling.

If you ever loved the Three Musketeers, but wish there had been magic and gods - and the main character had been Athos, well, have I got a series for you! I laughed out loud, I wept a bit too. It reflected a part of me.
