I genuinely love The Dark Forest, I think its a phenomenal book, and also I recognize that for Cixin Liu, characters are just tools that he can move to explore the larger questions he wants to answer about like humanity and science, and yes, he cannot write a woman.

I think what I've realized recently is that the further away in either time or space, the work is from the present moment, the softer I want the story to be.

Ferguson and Common's performances really anchor the show for me. I found it entertaining, and I think it's really interesting to look at how they choose to unfold the mystery and operate within the constraints set by the world, especially when looking at how it differs from the book.
