You're very welcome!
I also definitely recommend looking into the second edition when it comes out. I've been involved in playtesting/editing, and it is absolutely amazing! It's a huge upgrade on the original rules (which were already awesome)

No worries at all!
For 1e rules, I usually have the "knock down" condition mean that the scavenger can't move between range bands until they use their movement or their action on their turn to stand up. The fantastic @dubdubpub.itch.io also did a big, helpful Q&A: dubdubpub.itch.io/monster-guts...

Good luck with your campaign! I'd love to hear how it goes for your table.

And here's the thing: if you find the buffs do imbalance the game, it's a simple matter to have a strong monster break into the village and destroy a few upgrades. That will make the players have to work to get them back, and give them a Nemesis Monster to hunt down later as well!

Feel free to make whatever homebrew adjustments you need to in order to make it work for your table!

Very true! It's such a MH thing to eat beforehand.
Medara Village was built around the original MG monsters and those from the 3p supplements (including mine), rather than around the MH monsters I adapted later, so you may need to modify the Medara rules to better fit the MH monsters.

But the thing is: the players are meant to feel like badasses fighting deadly monsters (it's in the core rules, I think). So if you and your players want to lean into that power fantasy, adding those meal buffs is a great way to do that right off the bat

Firstly, thank you so much!
Second, the Medara Village rules were meant to give a framework for long-term campaigns where the tags you harvest help unlock upgrades. However, I don't think it will break the game to start with some upgrades unlocked. It will just make things a bit easier for them.

As-written, you start with no buffs (as the village is nearly destitute) and then upgrade the village to unlock them, but if you want to use the buffs immediately, you can start the village off at a higher village status, and have some faction upgrades pre-unlocked.

It's so exciting to see people using the content I made!
MG2e is going to have some great pre-Hunt buff mechanics, but if you're using the 1e rules, I put together a supplement for village stuff (including meal buffs). There's a couple of community copies left! arkhadtoa.itch.io/medara-village

I would love to see it! Even if it's just a link in a DM, it would be very helpful in wrapping my head around how to frame the adventure I want to make for the Breathless Jam.
