At risk of repeating myself: the authoritarian use of technology relies on both a complete disregard for how the technology works and the use of said technology as justificatory cover for inept and illegal human decision-making.
Bad use of AI.

So bad it reveals that either (a) they have not the faintest idea how LLMs work or (b) they just want wholesale arbitrary purges of the workforce are using AI as a fig leaf "decision process" that costs nothing and runs quickly.
Who could've predicted this, except everybody

Thrilled to see this single from Miles Sievwright released, on which I play bass and which I mixed.

Give it a listen!

Discovery is legibility—it facilitates alienation, domination, and exploitation. Introduction is metis—it facilitates freedom, safety, diversity, and community.

POINSOT IS WRONG

A relation of similarity does not arise from the mere existence of two things that are similar.

what scares me personally is when a profit motive drives the decision about what’s good for people rather than people deciding what’s good for themselves. and everything that we’ve been building for this protocol is about making sure that the capital intensive systems don’t do that

Would love to put "algorithmic propaganda" on that map, but where?
the spectrum of content is messy! third parties and decentralization help you control your *own* boundaries, and i'm excited to see how things evolve here to make that possible

Mental hygiene notice:

Modernity was an age ago.

Use "contemporary" instead of "modern."

Jay is a major reason I came here.
I’ve been working on understanding and building technology that empowers users my whole career, so bluesky is designed that if you don’t like it, you can leave with your connections and data. I encourage you to try one of the 3P clients and self-organize to run your own server soon.

Let what's public not be privately owned.
The APIs over public data that Bluesky gives you is pretty incredible, actually.

I can't wait to see what people build.
