I'm currently working out what to show at next month's Retro Computer Festival ( Gaming Edition ) at the Centre for Computing History. I'm bringing along a Master 128 or BBC Micro and will focus on game development for those machines. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The exhibitors are telling us what they're bringing to the RCF - and, wow, what a line up! PDPs and oscilloscopes from the dawn of gaming to brand new projects for the Sega Mega Drive - and into the future with the Spectrum Next! I find the weirdest stuff on old computers. Handheld camcorder footage of the British Motorcycle Grand Prix in 2004 at Donington Park... and someone at Cambridgeshire Software House paid Uniqueway to turn it into an Acorn Replay movie.

I've been working on Ovation Pro to add extra scaling options to the picture proxy setting. For those who attended my @rougol.bsky.social talk, I explained the use of proxy images. Base/16, Base/32 & Base/64 now offer even smaller proxies, making for smaller document sizes.

I like the "!Director" tool. Very flexible indeed, can make it do almost anything in terms of tailoring the RISC OS desktop.

Some retro related stuff I've been up to since I was last on here...

1. A7000+

Fixed the audio circuit, recapped where needed, installed Risc OS 4 and played Simon the Sorcerer (with Chris Barrie's voice over too!)

#acorn #a7000 #archimedes #riscpc
An Acorn A7000+ with a standard PS/2 keyboard and mouse, some stereo speakers, a Gotek drive and a yellowed CD-ROM drive fitted. On top stands an Acer flat screen 4:3 monitor.

This is an excellent opportunity to explore professional desktop publishing on RISC OS at no cost, guided by someone with years of experience. RISC OS is open-source and can run natively on the Raspberry Pi 4, Pi 400, and earlier models.

Mmmm this floats my boat. Look at that dithering. Mmmm.
I'm trying Arculator out on my mac and trying to coax A.I into understanding Euclid files which it doesn't want to do. If I can get it to understand the structure much retro magic will happen. Still, the dithering is lovely in 16 col mode.
