The community band played a patriotic concert at Walnut Grove colonial plantation Saturday and I kept wondering why this horse wasn't moving. Then I saw the dog on his back. Then I went in for a closer look after we warmed up.

This is Ziggy. He's just being weird in front of the fireplace again.

We also have a Ziggy, but he came to us in our backyard not quite a year old. Left eye swollen shut from fighting, so we had to take him in. He's a wild child.

Whatever they are using for stage snow these days is much improved. The old stuff used to blow into my tuba and I'd have to rotate the bell away from the stage at that point in the Nutcracker. I had it marked in my part.

Ziggy can't wait to get out in the snow. He'll run around for 20 minutes and come in soaking wet, then want to go back out as soon as he's dry. Unfortunately, we haven't had snow for two years in upstate SC.
Ironically Tyger, our Maine Coon mix and genetically built for the cold, hates it.

Orchestra with chorus tomorrow, Nutcracker next week, brass quintet at the library, then my community band concert. Then I can relax.

Ernie Kovacs of course, but Edie Adams deserves immense credit for preserving her husband's TV recordings after his death. It was a pioneering idea at a time when old recordings were routinely destroyed.

Hal Clement's Mission of Gravity is a must-read then. Can't remember the name of the sequel off the top of my head.
