I tried in vain to get this piece done in time for my best friend's birthday in Nov. (She requested it.) Alas, it is only about 60% painted atm. Rather than spoil the WIP of the colors, here's the complete final sketch before painting happened.

The first 5 steps of a series of surgical illustrations showing the steps taken to remove a pharyngeal tumor. 5 more steps of the same surgery, now showing the mandible being cut apart and one whole side of it removed. The final steps of the reconstruction of the mandible, including the bone pieces being harvested from the patient's fibula and secured with hardware.
