I found this book to be informative but annoying to read. The author jumps between contenients and bird species in the same sentence. I had to constantly look up specific locations.

Saw a rusty blackbird today in Cedarvale Park.

You don't usually see these in Toronto. Looking at the migration map, they live north of here, and migrate south of here. Skipping over Toronto, and much of Southern Ontario […]

I like how the sparrows all flock together and rush the seeds put out.
Mid-town Toronto.

It's winter, that means it's mostly house sparrows at the feeders. Still nice.

Woody enjoying the suet. Have had a snap of cold weather recently, in Toronto, but this downy seems to be doing just fine.

Had a dove scampering around the bottom of the bird feeder harvesting whatever the sparrows dropped.

Haven't had a dove in some time.

Not sure what is going on with the feathers on its' head.

Cold weather here today, dropped to -12^C here in Toronto, Ontario.

The junco doesn't always come around to the feeder, only occasionally. Wish it was more of a regular. Here in mid-town Toronto.

It's cold and snowy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Put out a store bought suet feeder, to add a bit of variety.
The house sparrows are drinking water, I refresh the birth bath in the mornings when putting out some bird seed. With everything else frozen they enjoy it […]

Canada geese enjoying some green grass on a trampled school sports field. One of the few places without snow. West end of Toronto.

Morning sparrows.

Population numbers dropped significantly when cars phased out horses. For thousands of years house sparrows would feast on oats left out for horses.

The downy woodpecker is back, haven't seen it for a few weeks.
It's starting to peck at my homemade suet feeder.

Just some house sparrows. With winter about here, bird species in mid-town Toronto are getting scarcer.

The colder, windier, days meant I've seen fewer species of birds nearby (midtown Toronto). .

However the 2 local ravens are flying up a storm and more active.

The state of traffic safety in Toronto, plastic pylons that look like they've been mashed hundreds of times.

Can't imagine these keeping pedestrians safe.

We really do need safer streets in Toronto.

Robin was enjoying the ivy berries this morning.

Guess the robin decided not to migrate south. Instead shifts its diet from worms and flies to berries during the winter. Also becomes a scavenger, and momentarily gives up its territory, until the snow recedes.

There were a dozen ravens playing around today near the Stockyards, Keele and St.Clair. The break from the snow, and some sun brought the fun out in them.

I couldn't get a good video, but got a snippet.

With all the snow in Toronto this week, the cardinal is feeling it. Here he is with some small snowflakes on its head.
