And the other half of my family ( who sadly decided to go back to Romania in the 1920s were burned alive in a barn by Romanian fascists. It isn’t about superiority (which seems to be an issue - see your shrink) but self preservation. Never trusting their fate to those who see them as others.

The alternative is to blame both the left and right and the past rhetoric of Muslim states who have conflated Zionism, the right of Jewish self determination with Nazism. Israel is the only place in the world where Jews are not subject to the whims of others. The 1940s sealed that deal.

Modern day Israel was formed as a socialist state. It was created due to the European concept (adopted worldwide) that Jews were an ethnic group. Your ancestors could convert but you were still a Jew, never accepted as a true whatever the country they were in and it’s still true today.

Just remember that a lot of immigrants looking to escape fascism were turned away at our doorstep prior to and after WWII. The powers that be decided we had too many undesirable immigrants in the 1920s and shut them out. We’ve just gone back to that.
