the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

Had a little hiccup entering my artwork at the depot. Missed part of the guidelines about how to hang the piece. Gotta alter it a bit and try again tomorrow.

I'm gonna call this one done. I want it to be simple and not overcomplicate it. Just gonna let it dry, then it's off to the arts depot to submit it. I'm pretty happy with it.

I just really like using acrylic paint on wood with whatever tools I have. Very minimal mixing, mostly just colors straight out of the tube, somewhat primitive art style. That's how I roll.

Day 2 of my Virginia Highlands Festival painting. Getting the background done and tomorrow I'll add the main subject: an old barn. Something simple and an everyday sight where I live. Using acrylic paint, palette knife, and an assortment of new big different shape brushes I got today.

Haven't done any kind of large painting in a long time now, but I decided to gesso up a 2x4ft wood panel and make something for the Virginia Highlands Festival juried fine arts show. Only a couple days to get it done so the pressure's on!
