I went ahead and ordered a proper sketchbook if I'm gonna do this regularly in between my full-renders. If I choose to color these sketches, I can only do them at home. No way I'm lugging 64 brush pens with me. Already hard enough when I used to bring them to the laundromat.

I'll never get over the fact that I accidentally drew her with two left hands 😅

I used a lot of "filter shading" for the presents on the floor. Filter Shading is something I do where I use a single color over multiple layers and set the layers to "Multiply". It potentially makes for duller shades, but it's faster.

Also used this pic to thank all the people I met and interacted with on Twitter and JSRL by making ornaments based on them. This is actually the reason why this whole pic was delayed as each chibi ornament was drawn on a separate canvas.

And to save on power (and utility bills), I put a power plan on it to shut down on its own when I leave for work, boot back up when I'm almost home, and stay on 24 hours on Mondays/Tuesdays (my regular days off).

I'll still have to remain mindful of it during the Summer since that room has no AC.

But since the NAS is on 24/7 and pulls less power than my desktop, I can use the method better this way. And the transfer speed is acceptable at around 20 seconds.

Now, the connection CAN drop since the router's wi-fi can be spotty. But it's better than CSP throwing an error at me.

My old method to sending/retrieving files between desktop and laptop can be used more efficiently here, except now I'll be doing that between laptop/NAS, and desktop/NAS.

I didn't like the fact that either my desktop or laptop had to be ON to communicate with each other, and R/W speeds SUCKED.

On laptop its a different story. I can only connect via wi-fi, and that's proved to be too slow when trying to open the same file on CSP as it error'ed out. My router wireless is showing its age and does drop low quite a bit (especially when i play F-Zero 99). But I do have a backup plan.

In other news, I found out about Dreamcast PVR files thanks to GameBanana, and the fact that GIMP now opens them as of 3.2.

This'll come in handy for future Jet Set Radio pics. For now now, there's some ground textures I can extract with GIMP and properly redo in HD with Clip Studio Paint.

There's also my earlier concerns about overloading the wall plug. So for now, it's going to the other room where the router is located. I'll have to be mindful of the summer months, and leave one of the doors open (whichever room has the AC on), or just leave it powered off for the season.

I'm nervous of overloading the wall.

Things to think about.

The only thing I really got worry about is the Summer months. There's only one room I can put that in, and there's no AC in it.

I did get a new power strip recently for my desktop in my bedroom that's pretty robust. All but the tower's plugged into. I could plug the NAS there but...

So I gotta transfer the file from desktop to laptop over wifi, then continue there since it'll save normally. But then I gotta transfer it back to the desktop if I decide to be on that for the day.

So I think I might just get a NAS so that I can put projects in there without further fuss.

And since they're communicating over wifi, that transfer speed can be slooooow, especially when saving a project whose file is on the other computer. So for example, I'm on the laptop accessing a CSP file from the desktop. I attempt save, and it takes mad long to to finish saving.
