Douglas's portraits function primarily to instill confidence
and a sense of belonging in his subjects.

Two large artworks of a two young students in the windows of museum facing the street, seeming to face each other. Both are Black first generation art students wearing all white. Douglas shows his subjects as individuals with their own ideas and experiences. His intention is to dismantle the misrepresentations of Black people, to focus on their strength and resilience, and to have an honest conversation about race. Surrounding the subjects are Jamaican plants, a nod to Douglas's heritage. Majestic is a celebration of Black excellence, beauty, ingenuity, and empowerment.
