A lot (most?) game UIs are cleanly rendered on top of the virtual worlds. It's understandable - clarity, usability, accessibility are paramount.

But I'd be curious to work on a project that tries to ground its UI by making it visually imperfect, damaged, slightly off.

I really liked how the new additions blended with the original's art direction - the hands, weapons, menus etc.

Hard agree - I'd say SSAO and SSR should only be carefully sprinkled on top of a solid graphical base AT BEST
