Snow Trail (1947) is rightfully remembered as the debut film of world's sexiest man ever Toshiro Mifune but I really don't think it can be underscored enough how insanely good Takashi Shimura is in it as well

I'm a huge fan of anything in the Ceutorhynchinae and Conoderinae subfamilies, I just think they're especially fascinating looking. I also have a couple Tachygonus which are just absurd looking bugguide.net/node/view/17...

a colleague conducted an insect survey in south TX that ended up with a bunch of cool native bees as by-catch, which were then sent to me for identification. of course only after struggling through the whole pile did I discover that there's a brand new lushly photographed guide to exactly this topic
