Similar issues exist in the commercial application space. If a developer has complete creative control, they'd better know their craft otherwise it's chaos.. which is why we have multiple layers of design/development authority to safeguard data, the company and, the developer.

Every bubble needs something to pump air into it in order to inflate it till it pops. After it does, the useful part will be all that remains. The .com bubble is an example of this. My worries are in the sheer amount of compute needed to run decent AI tools, they won't survive the pop.

Exactly. I run a small team of devs. While AI assistance isn't banned, they must understand completely what they are producing. My team are skilled enough to know, but I worry about any new intake of junior devs without the experience to know their craft well enough to use it without relying on it.
