LOL! Depending on who gets elected, ECan may well achieve absolutely nothing!

Alex Davids. Please tell me you didn't vote for her

Context for non-Cantabs: ECan, or Environment Canterbury is the Canterbury Regional Council. It has absolutely nothing to do with speed humps.
ashleykiwi.bsky.social
So on FB today we have a candidate for ECan's Chch Central constituency promising no more speed humps. And people are responding positively.

That, ladies and gentleman, is the calibre of this election.

Yeah, all three on the fence got the treatment. It's good to have some humour in an election campaign!

I've come off pretty lightly in the billboard modification stakes. This is the first one I've noticed, and tbh, it made me laugh

I tell a lie - daily charge was $48.41, so power use was $67.46. And super off-peak rate was 18.48c/kWh compared to 36.43c/kWh for weekday peak. So that forced charging was a major part of my saving.

My Aug 13-Sep 12 bill was $115.87, which is tiny for the time of year. Only used 35kWh at weekday peak, but used 185kWh of super off-peak, thanks to forced charging of my battery between 3 and 5am. I also wish I'd got a bigger battery. Powershop doesn't separate into line charges, admin & power

I personally don't think it was as good. But it's equally feelgood and a good night's light entertainment

I don't have a mortgage. I do have savings and investments. I am 64. This is not good news for me.

I appreciate it is good news for homeowners and for those saving for a home. But better news would be a functioning economy that doesn't rely on interest-rate cuts for its oxygen

Took the munchkins to the Burwood red zone for their walk today. Lovely to see how mature the planting next to Anzac Dr, from about 11 years ago, is getting now. And also the lovely new bridge crossing Corser Stream, and the fab new natural playground in Brooker Reserve
Dense native vegetation reaching several metres high. In the foreground are some bamboo stakes and plant guards protecting new planting View through overhanging branches, across grass to a wooden footbridge. The wooden sides of the footbridge have a very red tone. View across a wooden footbridge to trees beyond. The sides of the footbridge have a very red tone. The sky is steely grey A natural playground. In the foreground is an area of bark chip, with two large, very grey logs set on the ground at a right angle. In the middle distance is a large uneven log, with lots of uneven edges, and also several wooden picnic tables and sets on a lawn. In the far distance are young trees and a glimpse of the wooden footbridge crossing Corser Stream. The sky is steely grey.

Foxy had the answer - it flashes up briefly at the bottom once you've voted.
ashleykiwi.bsky.social
But just did it again, and it's over 22,000
ashleykiwi.bsky.social
Ah, I missed it then!
ashleykiwi.bsky.social
No, I don't mean that, I meant the 21,000
ashleykiwi.bsky.social
How do you see the number of votes?
ashleykiwi.bsky.social
It's not even EC101. It's taught in secondary school economics

Having slept appallingly last night & feeling awful today then realising that, yup, it was a full moon tonight and this is what seems to happen to me I googled. And yes, it is common. First image from Harvard Health, second from Science

Not a good take, Ken. If it was Jacinda Adern's window being smashed, would you say the same?
ashleykiwi.bsky.social
Oooo, that's a tricky word!

What foul weather it's been this weekend. So far I've watched two movies. I'm anticipating a third tonight.
