Long overdue Shelduck ( patch tick) at New Landywood Pool this morning, also 16 Wigeon, 7 Tufted Duck , 5 Teal, 4 Mallard, 1 Little Egret.

Shetland day Nine.
We visited Unst today the most northerly point in the British Isles.
We connected with the target bird a Paddyfield Warbler a Shetland tick. Also had Common Rose Finch , 3 YBW and managed to see the Lanceolated Warbler ( my 5th ) a hour before we had to catch the ferry back.

Shetland day Nine.

Cracking day with Golden Oriole , Little Bunting and a Mega Eastern Crowned Warbler which was a life tick for me. Happy day’s.

Day 5 of our Shetland trip. Highlights- Pechora Pipit, Pallas’s Warbler, 30+ YB Warblers , Rose Coloured Starling, 3 Barred Warblers, RT Divers , GN Diver , Great Skua’s, Wheatears , Chiffchaffs , Willow Warbler, Brambling and other regular birds seen up here , I.E - Black guillemots etc .

Then news of a Pechora Pipit broke so we travelled 29 miles to see it and eventually it showed incredibly well . Other birds seen today were - RB Flycatcher, YB Warbler, Wood Warbler, Pied Flycatcher.
Great start with Arch , Phil , Bart and Rob .

First day on Shetland started seeing a Corn Crake

A great days birding up at Spurn today. 50+ Med Gulls , Red Backed Shirke, 2 Wryneck , 8 Redstart , 7 Spotted Flycatcher, 4 Pied flycatchers, Whinchat, Artic Skua , and Convolvulus hawk-moth, a stunner. Bostin day with good friends.

Eclipse drake Lesser Scaup , at Belvide reservoir today found by Steve Nuttall .
It’s hard to believe but 37 years ago I co- found one of these at Chasewater which as the Crow flies isn’t that far away but the difference is that the one we found was a first for Britain and the Western Palearctic.
