A gift to myself after an intense year of general chairing #FAccT2025 -- 2 weeks of disconnection in Iceland, and in particular, completing the epic 55 km Laugavegur trek in the Icelandic otherworldly wilderness. In this paper, we show how amortizing fair ranking while ignoring critical information about queries may enable fairwashing, where we grant minority groups exposure in the results of queries expressing certain problematic information needs, while appearing fair according to evaluation metrics.
