Thanks for clarifying. The 🤭 was meant to be the liberals, since I was referring to things I've heard in activist circles from them. It's mocking their teehee attitude. "We" was for myself, you all, and everyone who already knows there's nothing dirty/derogatory about homosexuality.

Exactly. It still ends up evoking the same harmful message, ultimately. If I were to replace sexuality with, say, a racially based cartoon, that probably would get recognized and mentally red flagged by most ppl immediately. So it's very telling when ppl don't recognize the link there.

I am LGBTQIA+. My "we" referred to the queer community and others who register homosexuality as normal. I work in decolonizing and deconstructing structural models in relationships. My job *requires* me to think about ppls' perspectives in order to reframe thoughts.

It is just as foolish to assume that every one one is acting purposefully out of malice and ignorance. Especially when it comes to deconstructing, conditioned discrimination and prejudice. In order to teach them, we need to understand why they think it's acceptable and then speak to that.
