I actually think that the two party system is one of the worst impediments to democracy! We have to break that system if we want a truly functional democracy!

You nailed this squarely on the head! Poverty is most definitely one of the biggest impediments to voting. Others include Republican anti-voting efforts which are working to make it more difficult to vote. Do you know of any studies of why people don’t vote?
