A woman in my undergrad Spanish classes was a fan of Juan Luis Guerra. This song was in my head this morning. Feels like it rhymes a bit with the state of things. youtu.be/DKWtM-H-au8?...

PSA: Pages is unusable with Voice Control on #ios 26. None of the correction, selection, or formatting commands work document-wide. The text you want to address must be in the focused paragraph. Since "move x lines" or "move after word" don't work, it's a clusterfuck. #accessibility

Well, this is fun. In iOS 26 public beta, Voice Control can't even dictate reliably in the native Pages app, where saying "next paragraph" and starting a new sentence causes the text cursor to jump into your previous paragraph while you are speaking, overwriting previous text. #ios #disability

PSA for testers who rely on Voice Control: Dictation accuracy is significantly degraded in the iOS 26 beta. Sometimes you can even see it replace a correct input with an incorrect in real time. Hyphens are usually ignored, and words after commas often wrongly capitalized etc. #ios #disability

Microsoft on why touch keyboard and OSK are different: "The onscreen keyboard is an accessibility feature which is why they are different. We recommend using the touch keyboard whenever possible, which is getting ongoing investment, fixes and improvements." Way to abandon #accessibility. Jerks.

Not just audio and VoiceOver access. There's nothing I hate worse in gaming than missing out on a great story because I can't physically manage the combat. Since BROK the Investigator lets you skip it, you don't miss out on a funny and emotional story.

SO glad Rosewater offers multiple ways to solve some problems. Means I didn't have to quit playing just because I suck at target practice 😆

Another way for Voice Control users to lessen fatigue when reading books in iOS: create a Turn Page shortcut for Books and set to Next. Then, in Switch Control, add an unvoiced Sound switch (eg "P") and assign your shortcut to that sound. Voice and Switch Control can run together. #accessibility

Second play of Old Skies for achievements. The many game universe refs are oddly comforting as so many things change and fall apart--"then" and now. I think my favorites are a snort-worthy pun and a distinctively dressed character sighting. And nice that Rosa got a(n indirect) compliment for once!

Voice Control tip: Created a page-turner for Books in Shortcuts, then a voice command to launch said shortcut so I wouldn't have to keep saying "Swipe left" all the time. #ios #accessibility

Browsing Ablenet for switches. Popup: "Are you a: Parent/AT Coordinator/SLP/Other" Says I, a disabled end user: "Screw that." And bought some kickass switches from makers on Etsy. Other, my ass. #disability

To shorten Voice Control commands for VoiceOver: Say "Start recording commands," then the full VoiceOver command. Stop recording, then name the command with fewer syllables. Find Voiceover commands in the Accessibility section of Voice Control's command list. #accessibility #ios

I don't get it. Microsoft knows Windows is a widespread work OS. So why not build in Switch Control, Dwell etc. like every other OS to reach as many users as possible instead of patting themselves on the back every October (Disability Employment Awareness)? #accessibility #technology

Unexpected "I feel old" moment: Telling a 20-something coworker about the delightful "BSOD" expletive in Wadjet Eye/Wormwood Studio's Primordia and having to explain the joke. I don't usually dig scifi but this won me over.
Primordia is 60% off in the Steam Winter sale!

Life has ceased. Man is but a myth. And now, even the machines have begun to fail. Primordia is a fascinating journey through a crumbling world populated by robots.

At this point I am pretty sure Microsoft has abandoned physical accessibility options for Windows. Voice Access is decent but not usable at work, I can't use Eye Control, and the text prediction/punctuation in the onscreen keyboard is clumsy. Still no dwell or switch control. #disability

I spent a lot of time hating the sound of my own voice because I thought it was weak; people kept interrupting. An unexpected benefit of Personal Voice in iOS/iPadOS is learning to hear myself and realizing that was bullshit. #accessibility #disability

I think Apple finally--if perhaps accidentally?--added the ability to capitalize words on the fly using Voice Control. It's finicky, but saying "Cap <word>" while dictating works at least some of the time. Still figuring out the trick. It's not listed in Commands though…
