I'm Astolfo! (they/them) I post whatever's on my mind.
Sorry for the differently-flavored posting today. I've had this on my mind a while.

It is by first and foremost your peace of mind to still help others, even if you don't get anything out of it. There is benefit to practicing comradery, even if there's no immediate tangible benefit. Even if you still get nothing from it physically, it still feels good to help.

You don't owe anyone anything. You don't owe them your kindness or love. But that's why it's so much more meaningful if you DO give them your kindness and love. If you DO care for them.
The fact you don't HAVE to care makes it so much more fulfilling and meaningful when you DO care.

I am sick and tired of when someone points out something isn't fair, someone always says "Well life isn't fair." We're supposed to fix that! We're supposed to make it fair! What's the point in having rationality, intellect, and empathy if we just flush them down the toilet every time life gets hard?

Everything has meaning if we want it to, and meaning itself is subjective. Birdseed has no meaning to us, but money has no meaning to a bird. If we as a species have any place in the universe, it should be to be kind and care about those around us.

My personal philosophy is positive nihilism. The idea and acceptance that chaos might just be the nature of the universe, but still deciding to make meaning on top of it as a rebellion. In a universe with no meaning or care, we alone can create that meaning and care about those around us.

Hyper-individualism is a rancid infection born from capitalism and willfully misinterpreted therapy-speak telling us we should only look out for ourselves.
I will defy it by continuing to be kind, REGARDLESS of whether or not it benefits me personally.
Being kind is the bare minimum you can do.

If you feel tired or uncertain or behind, you're in the middle of becoming and you're just around the corner from success.
When you get there, you'll turn around and realize you couldn't have found yourself without getting lost first.

Life disguises growth as failure and progress as pain.
If it's hard, it matters.
Becoming is messy. It breaks who you were to make room for you're meant to be.
You don't build strength by feeling powerful, but by showing up when you feel powerless.
