Click here to see pictures of shark gifts 🦈

My favorite sharks are hammerhead sharks (although I love all sharks). My favorite singular shark is Bruce from Finding Nemo.

Every year, I ask on social media if anyone received any good shark gifts this year.

I inevitably get some replies that are gifts that have nothing to do with sharks, or random photos of sharks that clearly aren’t gifts anyone received.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love sharks and my mom has noticed.

Every day is a good day when you have llama antibody socks.

I got these from a woman who got them from an antibodies-related conference and was like “I know someone who loves fun socks.”

“I know a guy” sums up at least 50% of my relationships. I may not know that guy very well, BUT if I ever need to learn linear algebra, electron microscopy, or particle physics I know exactly who to call.

My goal is also to be that person 😊 Haven’t figured out what my specialty would be, though.

Is anyone else just *not interested* in using AI for their writing? All accuracy and morality aside, I just don't want to. I want every last word I put on a page to have flowed out from my own body. Maybe I'm romanticizing it, but I just can't see it any other way.

Every year around now, I start to see grad students on social media bemoan that they’re going home for the holidays to a family that doesn’t understand their research, or what they do in general, and it breaks my heart. 🧵 🧪 #SciComm

The MOST ABUNDANT PROTEIN ON EARTH is probably the one that almost all life depends on.

It makes up ~3% of the mass of every leaf & blade of grass on the planet: a total weight of 10^11 kg.

Let's talk about Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase or 'RuBisCO'.

What do sharks and camels have in common, (besides sometimes trying to eat children)?

Camelids like llamas, alpacas, camels can produce a type of antibody consisting of only the heavy chain (hcAB or VHH Abs).

So can sharks (& some other cartilaginous fish). So what?🧪
Popular meme: child is at a gate next to camel and donkey.
The camel has enveloped the entire child's head in its mouth. One worries for the well-being and safety of the child, but also is compelled to laugh.

Everyone judges twist boat conformers until they wake up one day as a cis-1,4-ditert-butylcyclohexane existing in a chair conformation.

Something seemingly useless for you may be perfect for another person.

When life makes you a trans-1-ethyl-3-methylcyclohexane, you can never have both of your substituents in an equatorial position, but you can still live a stable life if you prioritize well

This was my most popular post on Xitter, so reproducing some of the best submissions from previous years here:
