Prayer flags were present in every part of our expedition in Tibet, whether it was a mountain pass, villages or even near Mount Everest itself 😊. In the Himalayas, prayer flags are colorful banners featuring sacred images and mantras, used to spread blessings of peace and compassion. 1/

Our trek to Everest was not only filled with fascinating geology and beautiful landscapes, but we also camped in areas with some friendly biological organisms 😀. They were a bit bigger than the microscopic organisms that I was studying for research purposes higher up in the Everest area 😉. 1/

The "nutritional value" of glacial runoff is changing. Researchers found meltwater from retreating glaciers delivers sediment with lower concentrations of usable iron and manganese to coastal ecosystems. ❄️🧪 eos.org/articles/gla...

Sediment from retreating, land-terminating glaciers contains proportionally fewer micronutrients such as iron and manganese, reducing the glaciers’ value to microorganisms at the base of the food web.

One of the technologies I was testing during my recent Everest expedition was the VitaProbe-S3. It was designed by Slovak students to help me with my study of life in extreme environments. The name of the sensor means "life probe" from the Latin "vita" meaning "life".

Before my Everest expedition, one of my knees had been troublesome for a few months. I was really worried about how I would manage to trek during the expedition with this issue. It was a big source of stress for me and my situation wasn't improving very much no matter what I tried. 1/

The Boston premiere of The Boss - Aconcagua was such a lovely community event 😊. It was full of great discussions and I was very touched by the artwork of the children from the Czech and Slovak school, which was inspired by my scientific work ❤️.

The day has finally come. I can't believe it 😀. Slovakia has its first analog station for simulated missions to the Moon and Mars. It's called the Cosmic Region (Kozmický región) and it officially opened last week 😊.
