A group of white, orange, and blue stars sparkles in the darkness of space. Below the stars, orange and yellow clouds of gas glow, revealing structures that look like rock formations and arches. In the lower left, white text reads "Hubble".

Thousands of stars shine against black space.

At the center is a thin vertical cloud known as Lynds 483 that is shaped like an hourglass with irregular edges. At lower center are two discrete bright white, tiny blobs of light that have raced away from the hidden central stars. The top lobe shows a more prominent orange U-shape. Orange bleeds into light purple, and brighter pink at its edges. Some background stars are visible through sections of this lobe. Higher up, there is an orange arc. Some brighter pink material extends to the top edges near the center. In the lower lobe, less orange is visible. More opaque light purple is in its top third, rippling out into semi-transparent blues and pinks. The lower lobe has more texture. V-shapes left and right of the lobes are darkest, and the background stars in these areas appear orange. Elsewhere, the black background of space is clearer, speckled with tiny white stars and faint orange galaxies.

Hubble's view: Bright blue stars are in a cluster at the center of the image. They are surrounded by a shell of brownish and burnt orange dust and gas. The shell has ridges that reach towards the stars like teeth. Stars within the dust and gas are hidden from Hubble but visible to Webb in the infrared. A number of more distant galaxies also appear in the background.

it’s hard to ask for space, but sometimes you really need it 🌌

Cosmic clouds of pink and purple, some with bright centers, are surrounded by dark areas that appear like black space dotted with bright blue stars. A group of small clouds to the right is more red than any other area of the image.

A blue sky filled with brilliant stars covers the upper half of the image. The stars are different sizes and shades of white, beige, yellow, and light orange. Across the bottom third of the scene is a craggy, mountain-like vista with spire-like peaks and deep, seemingly misty valleys. These so-called mountains appear in varying shades of orange, yellow, and brown. Above their soaring spires is a wispy, ethereal white cloud that stretched horizontally across the scene. Steam appears to rise from the mountaintops and join with this cloud. In the lower left, white text reads "Webb".

$A section of the Cat’s Paw Nebula, a local star-forming region composed of gas, dust, and young stars. 4 roughly circular areas are toward the center of the frame: a small oval toward the top left, a large circle in the top center, and 2 ovals at bottom left and right. Each circular area has a luminous blue glow, with the top center and bottom left areas the brightest. Brown-orange filaments of dust, which vary in density, surround these 4 bluish patches and stretch toward the frame’s edges. Small zones, such as to the left and right of the top-center blue circular area, appear darker and seemingly vacant of stars. At center are small, fiery red clumps scattered among the brown dust. Many small, yellow-white stars are spread across the scene, some with eight-pointed diffraction spikes that are characteristic of Webb. A few larger blue-white stars with diffraction spikes are scattered throughout, toward the top left and bottom right. THIS NEW HUBBLE IMAGE LOOKS LIKE A GALACTIC PORTAL!!! 🌌

A galaxy seen face-on, with a slightly elliptical disk that appears to have a hole in the center like a doughnut. In the hole, the core is a brightly glowing point that shines light out beyond the edge of the disk. Around the hole is an inner ring of dust, and at the galaxy’s edge is a thicker outer ring of dust, with a swirling web of dust strands in between. Blue stars and red nebulae are visible behind the dust.

TWO NEW VIEWS OF SAGITTARIUS B2 FROM JWST!!! 🌌✨

hubble’s latest images 🌌✨

A close-in view of the center of galaxy M82. Bright, bluish light radiating from the center is due to stars actively forming there. A thick lane of gas, black in the center and red around the edges, crosses the center and blocks much of the light. Thinner strands and clumps of reddish dust cover much of the rest of the view.

$Stars in a star cluster shine brightly blue, with four-pointed diffraction spikes radiating from them. The center shows a small, crowded group of stars while a larger group is partially visible on the right side of the image. The nebula is mostly thick, smoky clouds of gas, lit up in blue tones by the stars. Clumps of dust hover before and around the stars; they are mostly dark but lit around their edges where the starlight erodes them.$

A spiral galaxy. It shines brightly at its center, and most of its disk also glows in warm colors. Its two spiral arms, which wind outward from the center, are made up mostly of large patches of bright blue specks. They also contain thin, reddish clouds of dust, and bright pink bubbles of glowing gas, where stars are forming. Distant galaxies are visible around the galaxy as small orange spots, on a dark background.

A spiral galaxy, tilted nearly face-on to us, with a slightly unusual shape. Its spiral arms form an oval-shaped ring around the galaxy’s disk, filled with blue light from stars, as well as pink glowing gas bubbles where new stars are forming. Threads of dark red dust swirl around the brightly glowing core, blocking some of its light. The dust lanes extend into and follow the spiral arms.

SPACE FANS STAND UPPPPP!!!!!!!

exactly 48 years ago, voyager 1 took the first image of the earth and moon in the same frame from over 7 million miles away.

The complicated structure at the centre of the Butterfly Nebula, NGC 6302.
