In Houston today for a test flight of NASA’s WB-57F with the SAMI instrument — a multispectral camera suite measuring nine bands of visible and infrared light — that we’ll use to observe the total solar eclipse in just 12 days, on April 8! I can’t wait for this unique and exciting mission! 🧪🔭⚛️

Special delivery! We just drove 10 CATE observing stations from Boulder to San Antonio, to host a workshop at SwRI this weekend to train our intrepid and generous community lead coordinators! (The car was … a bit full.)

It’s getting real! Real crowded in the lab, that is. We’re prepping all the equipment for CATE to send to our local eclipse observing teams! 37 Pelican cases, 37 telescopes, 37 mounts & tripods, 37 cameras, 37 laptops… and lots of supporting gear. It’s all going out soon!

Just published — polarization of light from the Sun's corona, as observed by our Citizen CATE 2024 project during the total solar eclipse in Australia (April 2023), is mapped to colors. (More ⬇️). Stunning!
