yes yes yes!! I'm a qpr "romance" style writer. I start with a meet-cute (or a meet-ugly, there's the one with the werewolf) and then flow to bffs to "something else" (but not "something more" because fuck the idea that romance > platonic relationshps)

[3/3] Now that I'm redoing Unbreakable ( #Cursed ), while Tristan is still white, Nix, the POV character and second MC, is black, as is his aunt and aunt's wife. It's important to me to have diversity of race in addition to queer identities. Next step: body positive rep!

[2/3] Still, Liam, the MC is a white (trans) man. Wardens of the Veil started out w/ a whitewashed cast as well, and I took the time to sit with the characters and ask them who they really were. Emmi is a black woman, and Mya is a black genderfluid individual. Both are MCs.
