#r4today should do a serious investigation into financial set up of private care provision. Its another pub owner vs landlord situation. Few care homes are owner operated, most operators rent the home so all profits are made by the home owner and the operator has tiny margins because of high rents.

We export more scrap steel than virgin steel we make. Just recycle through electric arc furnaces. Unfortunately we import a lot of steel from China in the goods we buy. #r4today

So January temps are up by 0.1'C but what is the error margin in this figure. Any self respecting scientist quotes tolerance, bias, etc with data but not climate "scientists" They don't do it because they wouldn't then be able to deliver doom ladened messaging #r4today

Years & years ago just outside Solihull, Tesco paid to move an ancient wild flower meadow to a new site so they could build a supermarket. It died. You can't step into the same river twice & you can't transplant nature after the fact. Developers should create & prove viable before starting #r4today

Newts are not in danger in the UK. The regs came from the EC where their prevalence is much lower. The regs cause more probs to newts than they help. I have seen entire landfill sites surrounded by newt barriers just because they might want to do work in the future. #r4today

Not that i know anything about this BUT looks to me the dollar is going up not the pound down. Euro also down against the dollar. Pound vs Euro marginally up. Too much worry over changes which are about the arrival of Trump #r4today

A couple of months ago, on radio 4 of course, they had an expert on these things saying that when building new prisons the developers cajole the gov to up spec prisons so they all end up as high security spec. Causing delays in building and cost over runs. Sounded only too plausible. #wato

Can't we have a different way of measuring growth. Growth seems to be purely based on spending and most of spending goes on the accumulation of more stuff with all the associated damage to our planet #r4today
