Took a look at my profile after logging out... It doesn't look like it's an HTML header or meta data. If the browser doesn't have an auth cookie/token, and user has "authenticated users only", then no joy.
I couldn't find a "do not index" setting, so I don't think that's a thing.

Switch UA to emulate a google bot got some <meta property...> HTML tags, but no indication of "do not index". Saw someone offered to look at their profile, so I'll look at that one, as well.

If you've set your account to "do not index", there's not an HTML header indicating that... Skimming through the json of the post I looked at, I don't see a key/value pair indicating "do not index". (This is not an in-depth analysis...)
