Big jump in the record solar production for MISO today. Hit 20% of total demand, besting wind. I've not seen it surpass fossil gas yet, but I'm betting that happens this spring.

What she's describing is not complicated. What she's describing is the tyranny of entropy and metabolism and the fact that food prep and dishes will be with us until the bitter end.

Equinox EV now at Civic prices. 319 mi range. Multiple dealers. I'm looking for the catch, but can't find one.

At low gas prices, fuel costs +/- same as a Civic. YMMV.

Did not expect to see this after the expiration of the Federal tax credit. Probably won't last long.

Poison Sumac today! Toxicodendron vernix.

Same genus as Poison Ivy, same itch-inducing oils from any part of the plant. Usually undisturbed, high-quality wetland habitat. Saw this today alongside some tussock sedges, native wetland goldenrods, and swamp thistle. Definitely a high quality spot...

Treadmill being the exception (podcasts), I've run 1000's of outdoor miles and only once with music. The mental defragmenting is a huge part of it... no way I'd give that mental processing over.

Also, listening to birds, not getting hit by cars, etc.

The crux, of course, is capturing, storing, and using said energy. The cost of the panels themselves was only 20% of the total of my off-grid, solar-battery car-charging system.

Roughly $6K total, minus $1,800 tax credit.

K.I.S.S. with rough numbers.

This solar panel is about $100.

It will make 1000 watt-hours of energy per watt-installed, annually, in the Midwest.

It will provide fuel for about 1,000 miles of travel...

... which is +/- same as $100 of gas.

Bila Solar CEO today at Renewable Energy Day at the IN Statehouse. New facility in Indy cranking out 1,000 panels/day (~2 semi-trailer loads), with goals for 5K/day.

China is installing 3 GW/day, which is about 9,470 semi-trailers of panels per day.

We need more factories. Many more.

New solar panels are, indeed, cheaper than a panel of fencing from Lowe's.

Fence: $14.30/ft
Solar: $12.40/ft*
Used panels: ~$7/ft

*$8.75/ft after the tax credit

Ok #EnergySky & #LibrarySky what are some energy/eco-related devices you'd like to see at your public library?

We donated a pair of these Kill-a-watts. They want more stuff!

Ideas:
*leak-detecting smoke pens
*thermal guns
*indoor air quality monitors
*radon detection
