Jan-Mar 2022 was driest on record, so you can't exactly use that as an example of why this dry spell isn't unusual

Some of it is that but obviously there are a lot of reasons people might want to stay in a hotel in Oakland. It always struck me as under-hoteled; then we built a bunch; then covid, and now here.

Covid is the earth-mover here but we're approaching 6 years on now. Things must get better at some point? Are we ever going to move on? Will it take a full decade?

Hopefully this building isn't just abandoned now. We have not really seen that with new hotels. sfstandard.com/2026/01/20/o...

Must be a lot. Hard to understand how our prices could be so high and still ~nothing can pencil out.

Two problems with this one: "Extreme cold watch" was new for NWS and they chose a time to introduce it when it was clearly not warranted. Also, Apple is braindead with automatically converting every watch or warning, not matter how routine, to "Severe weather" alert on iphone home screen.

I'm a California skier, so I'm not prepared for that kind of cold

I would do the same and bail back to the gondola. That is too cold.

I think this whole group is giving up

Looks brutal

Hopefully they are going to recalibrate a bit based on the reaction to this. They should not be warning the whole region about "extreme cold" for routine seasonally cool temperatures.

Some stats that justified the camera placement. 5.8% of vehicles traveling >10 mph over speed limit.
