I have no issues with those that believe, assuming they follow the teachings.

My point is, and will forever be, that religion does not guarantee morality, and in the name of religion, more heinous acts have been committed then in any other name ( save perhaps power ).

I thought we were talking about the moral superiority of religion. I don't know anyone that claims that states are a bastion of morality. Yet again you attempt to change the conversational paradigm because you have an unwinable position.

I'm not assuming anything. The facts of religious persecution are undeniable from a historical perspective. Could more have died another way? That's a straw man's argument because people DID die.
