You watched a Nazi, doing a Nazi salute. In case you did not know who the bad guys are, this is the moment from the movies that tells you which ones are.

Anecdotal. But I am not writing a scientific paper here. There *are* microtonality nerds who actually understand how overtone structures work — but I am not convinced they are the majority. Most people I know talk about intonations, chords, progressions, you know: stuff you can put into notes easily

Where did I claim that he was either of those things? Trump himself isn't politically motivated — he just is in it for power/money and everything he claims isn't because he strongly believes it, but because his followers like it. Same as Musk.

Why do you think they voted for Trump in the first place?

The musicians I work with also value it when the manufacturer responds in a helpful manner — and they tend to avoid the whole brand if it doesn't.

After all that synth seems to be a STM32 processor with some interfacing to the controls and audio converters, hardly what I'd see as a trade secret, especially since service manuals for older revisions can be found online.

The way I see it this is already the bare minimum of what should be acceptable. If they wanted to be exceptional they would have given me more internal documentation on how to analyze the circuit or the full service manual. Not sure what their worry is to only give a partial schematic.

It is amazing how easily we tend to forget how far we have come with our skills once we have to reliably deliver day in and day out.

I specifically recall the second semester in media theory where we analyzed the aesthitical choices a 12 year old girl made in her make-up-youtube-video.

If a theorist throws things out because they see it beneath them, that just means they got a stick up their...

Exactly. And this is sad, because music can be so many things to so many people — and theory, if anything, should help us make sense of the aesthetical preferences and artistic choices of humans even if the material isn't to our taste.

It is desirable to expand the field of music theory, but that wasn't my point. It was about that there is a dominant way in which music theory is thinking about music and that this does not come without its downsides.

We are in agreement. Traditional music theory is valuable, it just could (and should!) be expanded to cover more of what makes perceiving structured sounds so interesting.
