The median Ohio voter thought JD Vance should be a US Senator and appear to vote largely on the basis of who most believably promises to make their children work in a coal mine.

It’s very funny to be the guy who has spent years saying we should be brave enough to call these people fascists and that they’re not simply being tricked, and then act hysterical when someone say the places where they constitute a majority suck.

I really do think this is a “being in your 30s without kids thing” thus him having exactly zero experience with childcare or legitimately impactful housing decisions. A lot of the country is exposed to 24k+/child/year daycare and nearly 7 figure housing costs for schools that aren’t falling apart.

This reminds me that the confirmation deal Schumer made (to sacrifice circuit courts but juice his their numbers) should have been the end of him.

One of the many things that’s been bugging me about this is he treats suburban subsidies as some minor effect on the large scale natural preference, whereas if you cut those subsidies off most suburbanites would be drinking raw sewage in a week.

20 years of these centrist dipshits backslapping every tech shithead who wanted to replace every element of school with chromebooks. “We’re all trying to find the guy who did this”

Again, this is just an amazing rationale coming from someone who spent the last few years continually crying that people aren’t properly respecting the Biden economy because they’ve been hypnotized by TikTok.

Half of blue state homeowners: I would like to install solar but it costs a fortune and I have to beg my NIMBY neighbors for a permit

Dem Politician: would you like an electric bus that reduces state emissions by 0.00001% and doesn’t work in the cold?

I wonder how much of that is various powers letting CTA disintegrate. But yeah, I just think it’s crazy to say people have a natural driving preference when it demonstrably drives all of them insane on a daily basis.

The opportunity to not drive to work typically comes with a multiple six figure penalty in cities with functional transit systems. One of the biggest ongoing clashes in every city is drivers becoming deliriously mad at the idea that a bicycle might increase their commute by 20-30 seconds.

Also very possible he still wields influence over quite a few Senators (e.g. Gallego), possibly a critical mass, through the crypto/abundance groups.

The dominant ideology that has been winning election after election in Ohio the last decade is “we hate this fucking country, please let us ingest more coal fumes”
