Physics is the only causal domain, but it doesn't fix all the facts, there are also computational facts. And when these are involved in causal chains, we get confused on what caused what.

There is a difference between a river and a canal. One first is explained by mechanisms only, the second explanation starts with purpose.
Life is better explained like the river.
