In the anime fandom this was very common criticism during the Isekai boom of the 2010s, because 98% of the protagonists of those anime where blatant Mary Sues.

Or significantly more capable than the other characters ( specially men) around her automatically makes her a Mary Sue.

People bastardized the term like hell, it originally meant a character who's so perfect that it completely jeopardizes the conflict of the story, because they're so good at everything that every problem becomes meaningless.

Eu tenho o TOC meio oposto que é só fazer side quests quando faz sentido diegeticamente o personagem parar pra fazer outra coisa enquanto o objetivo principal tá rolando. Na maioria vezes eu só rusho a história principal e faço as side quests depois, se fizer.

I literally just spent half a hour trying to get a PC-88 Emulator to work so I could play Megami Tensei, then played for 5 minutes, thought "this is kinda fun, I have no idea how anything works tho" then closed the game. So yes, I understand how you feel lol.
