btw, if someone were to fork your code, do you have a policy of logo/imagery related to it to avoid confusion (i.e. this is an independent instance/fork -> do not contact the original dev)?

I know devs have to deal with naive users in the Linux space a lot (i.e. contact packager, not original dev)

I think just psychologically it’s nice for patrons to have something concrete to support even if they trust the creator. And for some people it might make legal/tax stuff easier?
