I am deeply grateful to Mayor Monroe Nichols for taking the critical first step in implementing Project Greenwood by designating June 1 as an official city holiday in remembrance of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

Deamonte’s death is not an isolated incident. It represents a broader systemic failure that disproportionately affects Black communities. It’s a stark example of the healthcare inequality that has plagued African-Americans for generations. This is why reparations must include healthcare reforms.
The Tragic Death of 12-Year-Old Deamonte Driver, Reparations, and the Fight for Health Care Justice
As we approach the 18th anniversary of the heartbreaking death of Deamonte Driver, I find myself reflecting not only on his life but on the enduring injustice that his death represents.

I am constantly fighting for equity!

As we are in our last week in DC, before the 119th Congress & we are in the final days of the Biden presidency, I’m hopeful that we can bring some semblance of justice to those currently incarcerated under crack cocaine disparities.

The way in which EJI is remaking Montgomery, AL as a destination space commemorating and reflecting on the experience of Black people in the U.S. is a lesson for cities wrestling with racial injustice to chart a path forward that centers Black folks. It make moral & economic sense.
Tulsa take note.
We are excited to announce a new convening center and hotel, Elevation. Set to open in 2025, Elevation is a transformative space for reflection, education, and connection in downtown Montgomery, Alabama.

Travis Hunter became the first HBCU player to win the Heisman hours after Jackson State won its first HBCU national title, which is months before Shadeur will likely be the #1 pick in the NFL draft.

Remember when Deion Sanders ruined college football?
