I believe the chiptune scene is something that needs to be cared for in order for it to stay healthy and active. This blog will be a part of that upkeep effort. Initiatives like Chiptune Monthly inspire this project. We need public hubs that point to what’s happening now, with an emphasis on sharing others’ work. Further, we need multiple of these hubs working in parallel to achieve stable and diverse networks - the world is too big and transient to rely on any one resource. If you are familiar at all with my work at ABOC or Infinite Lives, you may already be familiar with these opinions. I offer this site to anyone who wants to share their work or musings, even if they’re a tangent away from chiptune. Personally, I am most eager to write about upcoming albums and shows. And I’m finally ready to write Part 2 of Preventing Sexual Violence in Chiptune, which is something I struggled to keep writing when I first started it.

Yearly reminder that Spotify is a pretty rough deal for artists.

Most artists spend more money on keeping their music on Spotify than they earn via streams.

Leadership does not seem to mind, and the compensation algorithm is diluted with inflated reports, bots, and phone farms.
In response to the question, Anderson repeatedly berated Jana for being 'entitled, while explaining that Spotify has no obligation to solve the issue of artist compensation. "Do you guys want to talk about entitlement now?" Anderson asked the audience and moderator after repeatedly using 'entitlement' to characterize the question presented by Jana. Then, Anderson declared that Spotify was never created to make artists money — while criticizing demands for exactly that. "I think Taylor Swift doesn't need .00001 more a stream," Anderson stated, referring to public demands by Swift for better Spotify compensation for artists. "The problem is this: Spotify was created to solve a problem. The problem was this: piracy and music dis-tribution. The problem was to get artists' music out there. The problem was not to pay people money." Daniel Ek announced the deal with Helsing earlier this month. Share Spotify users and artists have responded to CEO Daniel Ek's €100 million investment in Al defence tech company Helsing. On November 9th, Ek announced the investment into the British-German company, whose technology will initially be sold to the French, British and German militaries. As part of the deal, Ek is also joining Helsing's board. Helsing says it will use "world-leading Al technology for defence and national security" to provide "information advantage for democratic governments" and "keep liberal democracies from harm."
