It’s got to be a general strike. The only non-violent way to thoroughly resist. I know they are hard to organize, but this situation is spiraling quickly, thanks to Trump.

Clip on mics don’t need to be as close, but they work substantially better if you use your outside voice and if you clip them as close to the center of your chest as possible. If you have to pick a side, pick the side where your slides are since you will look that direction more.

The most common type of handheld, podium, or tabletop mic at these events requires close proximity (1-5 inches) to your mouth.

If you hear feedback it’s either because you are not speaking loudly enough or close enough to the mic and your sound person is trying to turn you up, or you are standing under or directly in front of a speaker. Fix either of those issues and you will be fine.

Use the mic, so that if the session is being recorded you will be on the recording. Use the mic because the mic feeds the hearing assist system if there is one. Use the mic to set an example so when your audience has questions they also use the mic.

You should get a raise.
