The hearing aid world is similar. We’ve had AI in hearing aids since the early 2000s, but now it’s capable of doing so much more in terms of background noise processing and identifying signal speech in a speech babble. Using a lot more energy per charge, but hopefully that will improve!

I went to college with guys obsessed with the “shower orange”… the animalistic eating of an orange while in the shower, juices getting in all sorts of places where citrus juice should never go… 🫣

So for some Deaf people I’ve worked with, loud environments could definitely cause sensory overload (think bass at concerts or loud bars). Others love the vibrations in those environments and attend Deaf concerts specifically designed for it! Like all humans, everyone is different! 2/2

I’m an audiologist and I have lifelong hearing loss (not culturally Deaf, but have worked with a few patients who are). Some culturally Deaf people still have a small amount of hearing medically speaking, without speech understanding. 1/

Preach it, Rev! As I look for a new church that fits me well, I’ve found some are “too gay” for me, for lack of better words. I’m there for Jesus and to be welcome as a gay man, not have rainbows and glitter thrown at me 🤣
