I spent years in the US feeling like I was running on a treadmill and going nowhere. Corporate grind, rising rent, and that constant feeling like I was missing something in my life

a few years ago, I finally left for Sydney. It’s been the reset I didn't know I was allowed to have. 🧵
If you’re a 24-year-old in a US city working a job you hate just for the health insurance: I’m here to tell you there’s a world where your employer doesn't own your physical well-being

I didn't "quit" my job. I fired the American economy

What is the one thing holding you back from moving abroad? Be honest. I’ll answer as many as I can.

2 years ago I had $400 in savings. After my first 6 months in Sydney, I had $8,500. I didn't get a raise; I just changed my geography

The Sunday Scaries aren't a medical condition. They are a geographic one

Since moving to Australia my stress levels are lower, I'm getting more sunlight, and I no longer dread that Monday morning wakeup back to the corporate grind

Describe your current 9-5 job using only 3 emojis. Back when I lived in the states mine was: 🧟♀️📎🏢

Your 20s aren't for "climbing the ladder." They are for building the memories you'll want to have when you're 80

A few years ago I was terrified to click 'Apply' on my visa. Today I’m signing a lease on a house with 3 of my best friends, 10 minutes from the beach

My healthcare bill in Australia this year: $0. My healthcare bill in the US my last year there: $6,400 (meniscus surgery with insurance). The "Land of the Free" is getting expensive 😬💰

Americans in Australia: What was the biggest culture shock for you? For me, it was the early morning culture. It was crazy to see people actually being happy at 8 AM

"You need a corporate career to be successful." Nope. My friend makes $45/hr doing traffic control in Sydney and spends his weekends surfing. By most standards, he is totally winning

In Australia spent $120 on a flight from Sydney to the Great Barrier Reef. In the US, that wouldn't even cover my Uber to JFK from the city

If you could move to any city in Australia tomorrow—Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth—which are you choosing? (I’m biased toward Sydney because I live here 😁)

Stop chasing a "promotion" in a dying economy. Start chasing a "relocation" to a thriving one (that actually cares about young people)

2 years ago I was numb in a gray cubicle. Now I’m hanging out at Bondi before my shift. Life isn't supposed to be "tolerated."

Common belief: "Moving abroad is for rich kids." Wrong. Most rich kids stay home. The hungry ones move to where the wages are double and a "luxury lifestyle" is actually attainable for the average person

this was literally me until i took the leap of faith and moved to Australia

turns out I just needed to live near the beach and make an actual livable wage lol
2026 vibes so far lol

In the US, I paid $2400 a month for my studio apartment, now I live 10 minutes from the beach and pay less than $1200 (making $35/hr)

Made $4,100 in my first month in Sydney working 30 hours a week. In the US, I was working 50 hours to make $2,800. The math is broken

most people think moving abroad is expensive

its actually wayy more expensive paying 2x rent for a smaller apartment, working at a job you hate

the plane ticket and set up costs to moving abroad was less than 1 month's rent at my apartment in the states

I gave up on the rigged game in America and now this is what my Friday mornings look like :)
